Summary
Another turn in the Farnworth vs Locke saga. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth has introduced provincial legislation which, when passed, will seemingly force Surrey and Mayor Brenda Locke to transition from the RCMP to the Surrey Police Service. The changes to the Police Act are said to give the province the power to override any perceived attempts to stall the transition. It also comes as the City of Surrey heads to court in an attempt to have a judge rule Farnworth and the province are out of line by forcing this on local voters who elected Locke and an anti-SPS majority to council.
