Close to five weeks after they started, most of the evacuation alerts and orders have now been lifted in the Okanagan. Only one property in West Kelowna is under an order right now. Almost half of the 400 homes lost in B.C. this fire season have been in the Kelowna area. The McDougall Creek wildfire swept through parts of West Kelowna back in the evening hours of August 17.

A small group of pro-Khalistan supporters protested outside the Consul General of India’s office in downtown Vancouver Monday afternoon. They expressed anger over the belief that the Indian government was involved in June’s assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey. Small protests were also held in Toronto and Ottawa.
