The massive Jericho Lands development has been approved. Vancouver City Council voted unanimously in favour of the First Nations project that will create 13,000 new homes in Point Grey over the next 25 years. The 90 acres of land is owned by the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh First Nations.

Several people have been forced from their homes after a massive Tuesday morning fire at a Langley townhouse complex near 204 Street and 66 Avenue. At least one person was badly hurt in the two alarm fire that broke out shortly after 5:00 a.m. Several townhomes and at least one vehicle are badly damaged or destroyed. There’s no early word on the cause.
A homicide investigation is now underway after a woman’s body was found along Vedder Road in Chilliwack late Monday morning. RCMP say 37-year-old Chantelle Ruhl had no fixed address but was often in the area. The circumstances behind her death have not been revealed.
The owner of the Peace Arch Duty Free is worried his business may have to close. Owner Peter Raju says there’s been a lack of response from the provincial and federal governments as Canadians decide not to cross the border. Raju says his duty free store suffered an 80 per cent drop in business over last year’s long weekend.
