Summary
A young man from North Vancouver is one of two people charged in a failed murder plot in California. The 25-year-old, along with a co-accused from Ontario, are in custody after three people were stabbed at a home in Monterey County - all are expected to survive despite suffering serious to critical injuries. Charges include attempted murder and conspiracy to commit attempted murder. The two suspects are being held on bail of more than $2M each.

Homeowners in Vancouver could be facing a 5.5 per cent property tax increase. Council has approved a draft budget that also includes steep increases for a number of other services. The Vancouver Police Department continues to push for a 23M boost to its budget despite a drop in crime.
New Westminster has too many vape shops. That’s the feeling of that city’s council as it looks at ways to restrict the number of outlets and locations where they can pop up. Staff has been directed to come up with new bylaws that would snuff out a proliferation of vape shops in New West and neighbouring cities.
A public memorial service will be held for former premier John Horgan. The B.C. government has announced the service will be held at Q Centre in Colwood on Dec.15. Horgan died on Nov. 12 after fighting his third bout with cancer. He was 65.
