Summary
A security incident at YVR has been prompted by the theft of a single engine plane on Vancouver Island. Some flights had to be grounded and airspace had to be shutdown Tuesday afternoon after a Cessna 172S Skyhawk was taken from the Victoria Flying Club and flown to Vancouver. The suspect and lone occupant circled YVR for close to 20 minutes before landing the plane. He was promptly arrested. There’s no word on the motive.

Surrey Police suspect road rage as the motive in a shooting involving two cars in Newton early Tuesday morning. They say three people are injured after shots were fired at their car on 80 Avenue near 140 Street. Police are looking for three South Asian men who were in a white Tesla with Ontario plates.
The City of Richmond has slashed next year’s funding for the Olympic Oval by $1M. The arms-length corporation that runs The Oval will get $2.5M after recent turmoil involving outrage over expenses and the departure of the CEO and board. City Council has also voted to review how The Oval is operated.
Something stinks in Vancouver. Numerous people have taken to social media and some websites to complain about an unknown stench that seems strongest in the Mount Pleasant and Downtown areas. There’s no word on whether its related to garbage, sewage or slaughter houses. The City of Vancouver is encouraging those who smell stinky air to call 3-1-1.
