Summary
A man has been shot dead by RCMP at a home in Surrey’s Clayton Heights where a woman’s body was found inside. It happened Monday evening when officers responded to a possible domestic violence call on 66A Avenue, just east of 195 Street. Neighbours say they heard several bangs and then saw victims removed from the home. It’s believed the two were a couple in their 60s. While the Surrey Police Service is the force of jurisdiction, the incident happened in an area where Surrey RCMP respond to most of the calls.

Other news…
Wildfire crews, including those in a helicopter, have pitched-in to help fight a large fire that’s engulfed a couple outbuildings on Abbotsford’s Sumas Mountain. Thick black smoke could be seen as far away as Langley after the fire broke out late Tuesday afternoon. There’s no word on a cause - Sumas Mountain Road was closed most of Tuesday evening.
At least 17 cars have been broken into at Manning Park. The thefts involved several windshields being smashed over the weekend. It happened in an area far from the nearest RCMP detachment in Princeton. BC Parks says it will work with police and the local operator to see what options are available to reduce future thefts.
The City of Vancouver has finally approved the plan for greater density near its two most eastern SkyTrain’s Millennium Line stations. The Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan will pave the way for 10,000 additional homes in tall residential towers and increase space for retail, business and film studios. Infrastructure upgrades are estimated at $1.2B over the next decade.
Clouds, showers and gusty wind on Wednesday. Clouds giving way to sunshine on Thursday. Mostly sunny and warm for Friday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
