Summary
Three unvaccinated people in Chilliwack have confirmed cases of the measles. That confirmation comes from the Fraser Health Authority which is expressing concern that those cases appear to have been acquired locally. Meanwhile, Interior Health says Kamloops has a confirmed case - the first one in that area this year. The BC Centre for Disease Control has posted a list of several locations, including BC Ferries, where people may have been exposed in the past week.

A Nigerian man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for his part in a sextortion case linked to the death of a 14-year-old boy from Surrey. That teen died by suicide after a blackmail attempt involving explicit photos. RCMP says the conviction and sentencing came after a year-long international investigation.
A public high school teacher in Chilliwack has been suspended for a day for making sexually suggestive comments to students. According to the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, Robert Acheson was an ‘inclusion teacher’ with a caseload of students identified as vulnerable when comments were made about students’ physical appearance. It also says a story with sexual content was shared. Acheson has since taken a course on professional boundaries and is not allowed to have any more vulnerable students.
The Eby government is set to back down on its electric vehicle mandates. The Energy Ministry now admits meeting zero-emission targets by 2030 will be too difficult. EV sales have dropped off dramatically over the past year.
