Other news…
A public backlash has prompted Metro Vancouver’s board of directors to crack down on travel expenses. A new set of guidelines will come up for a vote after three regional district employees attended the International Conference on Urban Drainage in Amsterdam. The total taxpayer bill has not yet been made public.
Don’t swim or step into the water at Vancouver’s Sunset Beach. A new advisory has been posted by Vancouver Coastal Health due to high levels of E.coli. There’s no word on whether this is connected to the recent False Creek sewage leak from a broken pipe near Olympic Village.
Workers at one of B.C.’s best known resort hotels have voted in favour of strike action. Members of UNITE HERE-Local 40, which represents all types of staff at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort, are asking for what they call a modest wage increase saying the hotel has rebounded from the travel and leisure downturn much faster than most. The resort hotel has changed hands multiple times in recent years and is now operated by the Aldesta Hotel Group.
Clouds and showers Wednesday, windy at times. Showers Thursday and a mix of sun and clouds for Friday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
