Other news…
Outrage continues to mount as the cost of the new North Shore wastewater plant grows to nearly $4 billion. The plant was first expected to be finished in 2020 at a cost of about $500 million but the regional district fired its original contractor. Metro Vancouver expects households on the North Shore will have to pay an average of $750 more per year for the next 30 years to cover the cost.
A controversial biofuel plant planned for South Surrey is now on hold. Metro Vancouver has halted an air permit application until more technical information is received. The plant, proposed on Semiahmoo First Nation land, is designed to turn garbage into renewable natural gas.
A ‘grave mistake.’ That’s what a Vancouver gym now calls its decision to let the Danger Cats comedy show go ahead last weekend. F45 Training now says it understands the event has upset many individuals and it wants to apologize to all those affected. The comedy team was widely blasted for selling T-shirts that made light of the actions of Vancouver serial killer Robert Pickton.
Wednesday will have unsettled weather with plenty of clouds and showers. Thursday still has a few showers but then it starts to get sunny for the long weekend with highs in the upper teens. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
