Summary
A missing hiker has been found alive in a provincial park north of Fort St. John, close to five weeks after he went missing. CBC News reports 20-year-old Sam Benastick was reported missing after he failed to return home from a 10-day camping trip back on Oct. 17. He was found by workers attending natural gas wells in the area. The RCMP have not yet commented on the case.

Be careful around ponds and petting zoos - that’s the warning from Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry even though she admits the cause of B.C.’s avian flu remains a mystery. Henry says a teen who has been treated in Children’s Hospital is suffering from the same strain of bird flu that’s affecting wild birds and Fraser Valley poultry farms. That teen remains in stable but critical condition.
There’s been yet another notable drug bust in Surrey - this one involving the seizure of three sub-machine guns, three shotguns, 700 pounds of pot and a swack of cash. The Mounties say their investigation into a cannabis distribution ring, based out of a North Surrey shipping business, started back in September. A 29-year-old has been arrested in West Vancouver in connection with the raids.
It may be Vancouver’s largest sign of Taylor Swift’s popularity. The large “Vancouver” sign, outside Canada Place, has been temporarily altered to say “Swiftcouver’ ahead of the superstar’s three concerts from Dec. 6-8.. The Eras Tour dates are expected to have a huge economic impact in and around Vancouver.
