Some folks living in North Delta and parts of Surrey are deeply worried after that BNSF train derailed early Sunday morning. Fuel from one of the locomotives spilled into Burns Bog but there are no reports of leaks from the other cars. At least one resident tells CBC this derailment has him worried about other trains including those who with tanker cars filled with chemicals such as chlorine. The BNSF line runs along the waterfront from the U.S. border to the Fraser River - some local politicians have pushed for having the line redirected along Highway 99 instead.
Bubble World in Langley’s Walnut Grove neighbourhood is not a drive thru. That said, someone managed to drive their SUV through the front glass of the bubble tea shop during the noon hour on Tuesday. Fortunately, no one was hurt but the shop sustained a lot of damage and some customers were more than a little shocked.
It’s been a year but now an 18-year-old has been charged in a deadly stabbing next to a Surrey high school. Because he was under age at the time, the name of the man charged with second degree murder is not being released. Mehakpreet Sethi, 18, was stabbed to death in the parking of Tamanawis Secondary on Nov. 22.
