Other news…
Many regular travelers are hoping BC Ferries is able to sort out its problems before the Thanksgiving Weekend. That word comes after a long weekend dogged with long lines and multiple-sailing waits for those traveling between the mainland and Vancouver Island. Some called it the worst delays they’ve ever seen on the system. BC Ferries says it understands the frustration and the situation underscores the importance of adding new vessels to the fleet.
One home has been destroyed, several others are badly damaged following a Monday afternoon fire near Oak Street and West 49th Avenue in Vancouver. A large cloud of black smoke, visible for several kilometres, could be seen coming from the roof of a house at around 4:00 p.m. No one was hurt but a vintage hot rod was destroyed.
Rescuers say a solo climber is very lucky to be alive after falling from a ridge on the East Lion of the North Shore mountains. It happened on Monday and the climber fell into some shrubs on a narrow ledge. He was airlifted to safety.
A mix of sun and clouds Wednesday. Mostly cloudy on Thursday. Rain for Friday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
