The summary
In the news, an injunction has been filed in BC Supreme Court against Telus Health as the Medical Services Commission argues the company is violating the Medicare Protection Act. In question is the company’s LifePlus program which provides access to support from a multidisciplinary care team and programs for prevention and early detection. Is it primary care? That’s going to be the big thing to be decided as that would not be allowed under The Act.
All remains set for us to learn whether Canada’s Competition Bureau will block the merger of the country’s two largest cable companies - Rogers and Shaw. Eighteen days of testimony has come to an end at the Competition Tribunal. Among the impacts of a deal - if approved - would be Rogers picking up close to half-a-million Shaw Mobile customers in Western Canada.
A huge bust and multiple charges as police crack down on four accused drug traffickers linked to the Hells Angles and its puppet clubs on Vancouver Island. The four now face a combined 41 criminal charges - warrants are out for another three men. Police say this bust should curb the expansion of the HA and other clubs in the area.
That snowstorm on Tuesday that hit the Lower Mainland’s afternoon commute resulted in quite a number of accidents. ICBC says there were 3,500 claims and drivers have to be a lot more cautious during shitty weather (my words…not theirs).
