In the news, the B.C. government is stepping in to put a cap on the amount B.C. Ferries will increase its fares. The NDP hopes to keep the average annual increase in prices below three per cent through 2028 - half a billion dollars will be spent doing this. The new money going toward the ferry corporation will also help retrofit the fleet by converting ships over to hybrid electrification.
