The summary

In the news, it’s an audit that’s getting attention - for all the wrong reasons. Questions continue after the Vancouver Police Department’s audit, prepared by Alberta-based HelpSeeker, pegged the cost of social services for Vancouver (notably the DTES) at $5-billion. Close to 40 per cent of that tab included federal transfers for things like child tax benefits, Old Age Security, EI and CPP. Oops. Mayor Ken Sim - not happy. David Eby - not happy. Had a chat with Vancouver Police Chief Constable Adam Palmer while filling-in on 980|CKNW's Jas Johal Show. Over in Surrey, the Police Union representing members of the tentative new force says 94% of its members reject crossing over to the RCMP. That’s troubling news for Mayor Brenda Locke who is on record saying they could be picked up by the Mounties.
