Summary
In the news, there may be 17 unmarked graves at the former Alberni Indian Residential School on Vancouver Island. The Tseshaht First Nation also says researchers have now documented 67 who died - a request has been made for records from three hospitals where students were sent but never returned. This latest discovery is only the first phase of a scan of the area. Children from close to 70 First Nations attended the school in Port Alberni which operated from 1892 to 1973.
